Even open as it was to the main room, the murmur of conversations and casual noise from the kitchen seemed remote. Dom was slumped against the armrest on Orlando's homely second-hand sofa. Billy was half-curled against his side. Both their drinks were out of reach, neither willing to move enough to retrieve them.
A presence approached. "One for the wall of shame," said Elijah, dangling one of Viggo's cameras at them. He set about trying to balance a table lamp on the sofa back and aim the camera at the same time.
Billy made a contented scoffing noise. Dom picked up that thread of conversation, saving Billy the trouble.
"Yeah, wouldn't one of us have to be ashamed of something for that?"
"Not to mention they don't have a tackboard on-set for that sort of thing," Billy added. "You'll have to order one in."
"That's showing some community spirit," Dom said.
"I'm gonna take awful pictures of you guys," shot back Elijah, triggering the camera in time to capture Dom's freshly irked look and Billy's amused one.
Billy pushed up in his seat and resettled a little closer, got purchase and shoved himself backwards into Dom's lap. "No," he said, in the sort of tone that people tended to pay attention to; "Take a proper one."
Elijah laughed and propped the lamp on the other end of the sofa. Dom did not laugh; he was preoccupied with keeping his breathing as normal as possible. Billy would feel his heart going, but Dom could live with that while Billy's arm was around behind Dom's shoulders and his face was radiating his trademark mixture of innocence and mischief, so close.
"Smile," Billy said softly, and Dom couldn't help it.
