Once again, we had too many sign-ups to cram into one month so I'm starting this party a day early!

This has not been beta read, because I am an absolute procrastinator and didn't manage to get it to my dear beta until yesterday and I so haven't heard back from her yet. But, since there's a chance I'll be out for much of the day, I'm going to be bad and post it anyway.

Raindrops Keep Falling
Billy/Dom
Rated PG-13

This is the worst storm that Dom's seen since they've been in New Zealand. He'd only come back to Billy's after the filming day to grab a DVD that he'd borrowed, but by the time he's pulling into Billy's driveway the bottom has dropped out. In the twenty seconds it takes for him to get from his car to the front door, he's absolutely drenched.

It doesn't help that Billy keeps his house an icebox. Dom's shivering with the blast of cold hair, glaring at Billy who, while equally soaked with rainwater, seems less concerned with the cold.

"Come on." Billy says, motioning Dom to follow him.

They end up in Billy's bathroom, stripping down the dripping clothing.

Dom makes it to his jeans and stops.

It takes Billy a second to notice. He groans. " You're not wearing anything under those, are you?"

Dom smirks a bit and shakes his head.

"Fine, hold on."

Billy disappears and comes back a minute later, decked out in fresh shorts and a t-shirt. He offers Dom a pair of sweatpants and another shirt. "I want this thoroughly washed before you give it back."

Dom laughs. "Yeah, yeah."

Billy leaves him to change. It's certainly not the first time Dom's been in Billy's bathroom in the month that they've known each other, but it might actually been the first time he's been here sober. It's got a bit more personality now, as Billy settles in. He reaches out and flicks the end a toothbrush with his fingertip, watches it spin and then catches it just before it falls.

He looks at himself in the mirror. Drowned rat, that's what he is. This is not a good look for him. At least his hair's shorter. He runs his fingers through it, tries to make it look mussed on purposed and not quite so beat down. There's bits of wig glue and he makes a face, wiping them on the hand towel that Billy's got, not hung neatly on the bar but draped over the back of the toilet.

"Towels in the cupboard." Billy shouts, and Dom hears footsteps receding. The towels Dom finds are blue, soft and fluffy, like new. Which they are, of course. Who would bring towels from Scotland to New Zealand? Probably found in the place when Billy got here, just like Dom had found his own mostly furnished.

He dries off and kicks his wet clothes over to join the pile of Billy's. They leave a trail of water across the floor that Dom oversteps on his way out.

"Staying, I hope?" Billy asks. He's standing by the window looking out with a slightly pinched look to his face. Not exactly like he's upset, but like he's not entirely happy with something.

"If you don't mind. Just until it clears up some." Dom says, standing close by to him, close enough to look out. The rain is still pouring, pounding, beating down. After a few seconds, there's another layer of noise - a taptaptap of hail against the pane of glass. Dom winces.

"Yeah, you might be in for a while." Billy says, bumping their shoulders together.

*

An hour later, Billy's phone rings. It's one of the production assistants letting them know that they've been granted a reprieved from a 4 am call time, because there's no way the sets will be workable by morning since the storm isn't even meant to end until the wee hours.

Dom could cry with the sense of relief that he feels. "Sleep! I can sleep!"

"You know, some of us manage to sleep anyway." Billy reminds him.

"Right, and some of us aren't a hundred years old and don't want to go to bed at eight o'clock at night." Dom response.

That earns him a pillow thrown in his direction.

Billy appears to think something over and then announces, "You'll be staying, then."

"What?"

"Erick said there's a flood warning, won't be safe to leave. Lucky for you, mate, I've got a fully stocked refrigerator."

Dom gets up and follows Billy to the kitchen. The fridge is, indeed, fully stocked... with beer. "Lijah wanted that big to do last weekend, but they switched the schedule around. He asked if he could store it here."

"Wait, so not only is this beer, but it's Doodle's beer?" Dom says, suddenly wholeheartedly in agreement with this plan. "Well, what are we waiting for."

They share a grin, a moment of warmth, the kind that tugs at Dom's gut.

*

Five hours later, they've got the empties lined up in front of them, half a plate full of reheated pizza leftovers in their bellies, and a great big bowl of popcorn with powder cheese sprinkled on (at Billy's insistence.)

They've been attempting video games, but a mutual lack of coordination saw a quick end to that.

"I'm not as drunk as you are," Billy is trying to say, to argue.

"Nonono, mate, listen. I am drunk. I am. I'm drunk. But you - you - you are drunk, as well." Dom says, finishing with a flourish of a hand gesture that ends up banging Billy in the shoulder.

Billy makes a pained noise and grabs Dom's hand, holding it in both of his own.

Dom starts to say something else then it sinks in to his liquor addled brain that Billy has his hand. He looks down, and back up, and back down.

Thunder claps, and they both jump. Dom's fingers tighten around Billy's.

Now Billy's looking at him.

The power goes out.

*

Dom's sober again by three am. He's also awake, because his internal clock is all messed up, and he's always awake when he should be asleep and half the time, vice versa as well. At least he can sleep in, so it's not that bad, but Billy's couch is unfamiliar. He's slept in so many places that aren't home lately that he thinks he should be used to it, but somehow it just winds his insomnia up so that he doesn't feel like he's really getting enough rest no matter where he is.

He gets up and walks into the kitchen, wincing at the remnants of a drunken night. Open ice cream tub half melted and left out. The power's back on so he tucks it into the fridge, figuring Billy's not that picky and he'll probably finish it sooner or later even if it's melted and been re-frozen.

He gathers up the bottles and puts them gently, one by one so as not to make too much noise and wake Billy, into the recycling bin. The counter gets a wipe down with a damp cloth, and the garbage tied and put by the door.

He's walking back into the kitchen when he sees Billy, wearing no shirt and pajama pants, staring blearily at him. "What'n the fuck all are you doing up?"

It's more of a semi-coherent mumble than an actual question, but Dom gets it and shrugs in response. "Couldn't sleep."

"Couch is shite." Billy nods in agreement, and then looks around. "Do you fancy me?"

The question is so out of nowhere, so absolutely not what Dom had been expecting Billy to say, that he almost drops the cloth he'd just picked back up. "Come again?"

Billy smirks, a flash and gone, like he wants to joke but remembers that this is perhaps not the best moment for it. He leans forward on the counter, crossing his arms and looking at Dom. "Come here."

Dom feels very young and somewhat out of his element as he puts the cloth down and walks over to Billy. "Yeah?"

"I like you, Dom." Billy says, and he's using that voice that is all soft, and it's really not fair. He's had girls pull this on him but never a guy, and he'd never imagined that it'd work just as well.

"Like me... as in... you fancy me?" Dom asks.

Billy nods, eyes crinkling. "I've been trying to work it out, if it's a mutual thing, or if you're just a very affectionate straight bloke. But it's getting a bit more than just a pash on my end so I think it's time I just ask."

Dom's mouth goes dry. "I don't know."

"You don't know to which part?"

"Any." Dom admits, dropping onto one of the stools. He's closer to Billy now than he was before.

Billy nods, smiling a bit. It's a warm smile and it puts Dom at ease. "So is it something you think you might be inclined to figure out, or best we just leave it alone?"

This is Billy giving him an out. It's wide and clear with neon EXIT arrow signs flashing. Couldn't be any more blatant if he actually called it what it was. Dom's scrambling, freaked out heterosexuality is frantically trying to run toward those signs.

It's not working quickly enough, though. "I'll figure it out."

There's a bigger smile, a happier one. "All right, then. Now I know... that. I'll leave you to do so in your own time and in the mean time, you really don't have to clean my kitchen."

"Your couch sucks." Dom says again.

Billy lifts an eyebrow at him. "Well, you're welcome to come join me, but I didn't think..."

"Okay." Dom says quickly.

Billy looks surprised.

"Not like - I mean - not to-" Dom rushes to say, managing to bungle it all up.

"Come on, idiot. We'll sleep." Billy reaches out and takes his hand, and leads him into the bedroom.

Under the covers it's a game of awkward rearranging, not touching until Billy shifts and their legs brush. Dom twitches away, and suddenly the silence goes from regular nighttime silence to something more pointed.

Or maybe that's all in Dom's mind?

"Sorry." He mumbles.

"No," Billy says, and sounds a bit rueful. "No, don't be."

Dom suddenly feels a rush of guilt for making Billy feel bad, if that's what he's done, and he inches his leg back over until his calf is touching Billy's. It's small, a tiny point of contact between them, but it's nice. He hears Billy start to snore a few minutes later.

The storm has dulled into a light rain and half an hour later, Dom manages to fall asleep to that sound.

Yay! Thank you for that quiet, anticipatory, real bit of loveliness.

Billy lifts an eyebrow at him. "Well, you're welcome to come join me, but I didn't think..."

"Okay." Dom says quickly.

Hahahaha. ♥

Gah, I'm sorry I had no internet for the weekend and didn't know that until it happened!

But anyway, I do adore this fic. Especially this line:
"Couch is shite." Billy nods in agreement, and then looks around. "Do you fancy me?"
Ahahaha, oh, Billy. <3

I love this bit... "This is Billy giving him an out. It's wide and clear with neon EXIT arrow signs flashing. Couldn't be any more blatant if he actually called it what it was."

Glad Dom didn't take that route.

A wonderful start to my favorite month of the year!!
Thank you!

The story is sooo damn cute *_* I'm sorry that I can'tgive you any constructive feedback, but... I'm trying to stop making this fangirlish "awwwww"-sound.

Just: <<"Couch is shite." Billy nods in agreement, and then looks around. "Do you fancy me?">> Great. Absolutely wonderful. Love it <3
